Reminder: Check your Fire Alarms!

As we turn our clocks back in a few
weeks, it’s a great reminder from the Massachusetts Fire Service to check your
smoke and carbon monoxide alarms—especially this year, as many alarms may need
replacing.
Safety tips from the State Fire Marshal
and Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts:
✅ Check the manufacturing date on your
smoke and CO alarms
✅ Replace smoke alarms every 10 years
and CO alarms according to the manufacturer’s instructions
✅ Choose alarms from a well-known
national brand with an independent testing lab mark (UL or ETL/Intertek)
✅ Look for alarms with a sealed,
long-life battery, a hush feature, and that meet UL Standard 217, 8th Edition
or later
Taking a few minutes to check your
alarms can save lives.
