Pentucket Regional School District Convocation

Thanks to Superintendent Justin Bartholemew and everyone in the Pentucket Regional School District for including me and Representative Ramos in the district's Convocation.  It was great to have the opportunity to thank all of the professionals who give so much to educating students in the district as the new school year begins.

Manchester-by-the-Sea Council on Aging Luncheon

Thanks to the Manchester-by-the-Sea Council on Aging, led by Nancy Hammond, for including me and staff member Mary Ann Nay in a wonderful luncheon at Tuck's Point on a beautiful summer day. 

Salisbury Beach Citizens for Change

Congratulations to the Salisbury Beach Citizens for Change on a productive and informative Annual Meeting at the Blue Ocean Music Hall, and to Wayne Capolupo for receiving the organization's well-deserved Hero award.  I appreciated the opportunity to speak at the meeting and to continue our partnership on behalf of the beach community.

North Andover Visit

Today Senate President Karen Spilka and representatives of U.S. Senator Ed Markey joined with me and Senator Barry Finegold to view and assess the extensive damage that has occurred to North Andover businesses, homes and infrastructure as a result of the heavy rain and flooding events that have recently occurred in the Merrimack Valley and  other areas of Massachusetts.  We were accompanied by local officials including Selectboard Chair Janice Phillips,, Police Chief Charles Gray, Fire Chief John Weir, DPW Director Jim Stanford, Town Manager Melissa Rodrigues, and others, including business and property owners that have been heavily impacted by these events. The severity and magnitude of the damage that has occurred demands a coordinated response from local, state, and federal government, and we deeply appreciate the Senate President and Senator Markey's staff coming to the community and expressing their support. We also appreciate the indomitable spirit that those impacted, and the town in general, have shown toward recovering, rebuilding, and growing stronger in the wake of  this terrible damage. As the sign we saw today on the sidewalk says - " North Andover Strong "!

Rockport Illuminations

Thanks to everyone involved for another incredible Rockport Illuminations! 

I enjoyed reading to the kids in Harvey Park, watching lanterns be made, viewing them all over town, and seeing the spectacular fireworks show in the evening.
