📢 STARTING TONIGHT SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH AT 9 PM: MassDOT Advisory: Peabody to Gloucester | Wrong Way Driver Countermeasure Installation on Route 128 Northbound and Southbound 📢
🚨 Nighttime work will continue Sunday, August 30, through Thursday, September 3, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning 🚨
PEABODY TO GLOUCESTER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing nighttime construction operations to install wrong-way driving countermeasures at various locations along Route 128 northbound and southbound, between exit 38 in Peabody and exit 55 in Gloucester. The nighttime work will continue each night Sunday, August 30, through Thursday, September 3, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The work will require temporary ramp closures and detours to safely and effectively allow crews to install new pavement markings.
This work is part of the wrong-way driving countermeasure improvements being implemented at ramps along Route 128 as a result of a comprehensive corridor assessment.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.
