I was honored to share remarks at the Middleton community's Overdose Awareness Vigil, an evening to remember those we have lost to substance use and overdose, support those who are struggling, and stand with the families and loved ones who continue to carry the weight of loss.
As we mark International Overdose Awareness Day, we are reminded that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community.
This day gives us an opportunity to remember those we have lost, reduce the stigma surrounding addiction, and reinforce the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery, and support.
Thank you to the Town of Middleton, the organizers, first responders, families, advocates, and community members who came together for this important vigil.
May we remember those we have lost, stand with those in recovery, and remain committed to building communities where people and families have the support they need.
