It was a pleasure to join Senior District Director Maryann Nay in Essex to see the Essex Council on Aging's Mobile Market and learn more about this wonderful program serving local seniors.
The Essex COA has partnered with Acord Food Pantry and The Open Door Food Pantry to provide eligible residents with a bag of groceries twice a month.
The Mobile Markets are held on the first and third Fridays of each month at 10:30 a.m., with delivery also available on an as-needed basis.
The Mobile Market program began during COVID-19 and has continued to help so many seniors in our community by providing access to fresh, nutritious food, including fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats and more.
It was especially meaningful to learn about the community members who helped get this program started during a time of tremendous need. What began as a response to COVID has become a lasting resource for Essex seniors.
Thank you to the Essex Council on Aging, Acord Food Pantry and The Open Door Food Pantry for their continued commitment to our community and to making sure our seniors have access to healthy food.
For more information or to sign up, contact the Essex COA at 978-768-7932.
