Earlier this summer, I was honored to join community members, local officials, and the Cape Ann Museum team for the official reopening ceremony celebrating the completion of the Museum’s extensive renovations.

It was especially meaningful to share remarks on a project that has been years in the making. Working alongside the late State Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante, we were proud to help secure important funding to support the renovation of the Museum’s Fisheries galleries—an essential part of the broader transformation of the Museum’s downtown campus.

The revitalized galleries bring Cape Ann’s rich maritime heritage to life in new and engaging ways, while the Museum’s restored garden and expanded spaces create new opportunities for the community to gather, learn, and connect with our region’s history.

The reopening also marked the opening of the new “Avery, Gottlieb & Rothko: By the Sea” exhibition, adding another exciting dimension to this remarkable institution.

The Cape Ann Museum is a cornerstone of Gloucester’s cultural and historical identity, and it was a privilege to celebrate this important milestone and the many people whose vision, dedication, and hard work made it possible.
