'Traffic Technology Upgrades Underway Peabody-Gloucester Rte. 128 Stretch'
By Kendall Buhl | WBZ NewsRadio
EXCERPT BELOW:
"Route 128 runs through State Senator Bruce Tarr's district.
He said a process was used to determine where the new technology should go. "Based on traffic reports, based on accident reports, based on engineering analyses, of what intersections, and what ramps, pose the most significant danger."
According to state traffic data, there have been three fatal accidents because of wrong-way drivers on the North Shore on Route 128 in the past 21 months, including that of Gloucester teenager Chris Dailey.
Tarr said we are honoring these victims by eliminating wrong-way driving accidents. "These installations and these systems go a long way toward achieving that goal," he said."
