PEABODY TO GLOUCESTER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing daytime construction operations to install wrong-way driver countermeasures at various locations along Route 128 northbound and southbound, between Peabody and Gloucester. The daytime work will begin on Tuesday, August 18, and will continue until further notice, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The work will require temporary shoulder closures to allow crews to install new signage safely and effectively.
This work is part of the wrong-way driving countermeasure improvements being implemented at ramps along Route 128 as a result of a comprehensive corridor assessment.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.
The schedule for this work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
