"Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr’s legislation preventing wrong-way driving was signed into law Thursday. It establishes a statewide strategy to prevent wrong-way driving incidents, enhance roadway safety, and help save lives.

“This new law represents a comprehensive and coordinated effort to prevent devastating wrong-way driving tragedies before they occur,” Tarr, R-Gloucester, said.

“By combining infrastructure improvements, advanced detection technology, public education, and enhanced training for law enforcement and drivers alike, Massachusetts is taking meaningful steps to save lives and make our roadways safer for everyone,” he said."

"“The deaths of Christopher Dailey, Sergeant Jeremy Cole, Trooper Kevin Trainer, and every life lost to wrong-way driving represent heartbreaking tragedies for their families, friends, and communities,” Tarr said.

“The best way we can honor their memory—and protect everyone who travels on our roadways—is by doing everything possible to prevent these crashes before they happen. This law reflects that commitment by bringing together proven technologies, stronger safety measures, and the expertise of transportation and public safety professionals to save lives.”"
