On Friday, July 10, I had the opportunity to witness a remarkable flyover above the State House as the U.K.'s Royal Air Force honored America's 250th anniversary with a breathtaking performance by the famous Red Arrows. Known around the world for their precision flying, incredible speed, and signature red, white, and blue smoke trails, the display was an unforgettable tribute to our nation's history.

What made the moment even more memorable was that, just as the Red Arrows passed overhead, I happened to run into fellow reenactor John Langan, who portrays a British Captain of the 16th Queen's Light Dragoons. Just a couple of weeks earlier, we stood on opposite sides during the Battle of Gloucester reenactment—John representing the British forces while I had the honor of portraying a Gloucester militia man alongside the Lexington Minutemen re-enacters.

Then, we reenacted the ensuing struggle that took place between America and Britain. Today, we stood together in admiration of a moving display of friendship and camaraderie between two enduring allies, celebrating the remarkable journey of our great nation over the past 250 years. History reminds us where we've been, while moments like these remind us how far we've come.
