Ipswich Beaches Re-Open for Swimming
Wednesday, July 1, 2026 - Swimming may resume today at Ipswich's five beaches - Pavilion, Crane, Steep Hill, Clark, and Little Neck. Water test results from samples collected by Biomarine at all five beaches were below the state's limit of 104 colonies per 100ml of Enterococci. Posted Non Swimming signage will be removed.
Biomarine collected water samples today and this will be the last of testing for this event. If a beach exceeds the state's limit tomorrow the No Swimming signs will be posted. Regular schedule of testing will resume next week.
Additionally, the Ipswich Public Health Department has been notified that the city of Haverhill has installed a 24 inch temporary bypass line that is connected to the treatment plant, which addresses the major concern regarding the large volume of wastewater that had been running into the Merrimack River.
