'State, local officials tour O’Maley’s Science Central as Sen. Tarr pushes for similar programs statewide'

"Representatives from the state, city and a local nonprofit took a tour of the O’Maley Innovation Middle School’s Science Central to see the education Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr-R Gloucester, is advocating for statewide."

"Sen. Tarr has filed legislation to help school districts across the state mimic what the middle school has accomplished. The legislation, co-sponsored by the late state Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante of Gloucester, and state Sen. Michael O. Moore, D-Millbury, aims to create the Middle School Innovation Fund which would be used for grants that support curriculum development and purchase materials for middle schools.
Late last year, the state Senate’s Joint Committee on Education voted favorably on the bill. It is now before the senate’s Ways and Means Committee.
In addition to the legislation, Sen. Tarr has also secured $160,000 of state funding for Science Central in recent years to help pay for equipment and capital improvements."
