Today I released the following statement regarding the recent sewer overflow into the Merrimack River.
As water quality testing continues in the days ahead, I encourage everyone planning to visit beaches along the Merrimack River and surrounding coastline to monitor the latest advisories and closures before heading out.
Conditions may change as testing continues, and protecting public health must remain the top priority.
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and local officials are conducting ongoing water quality testing and will reopen affected beaches when it is safe to do so.
