Today I had the honor of attending the Change of Command Ceremony at U.S. Coast Guard Station Gloucester. The ceremony provided me with the opportunity to thank the crew of Station Gloucester for their dedicated service to keeping our port safe and secure, and protecting life at sea in our region.
The ceremony was presided over by Captain Jamie Frederick, Commander of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston. Captain Frederick has been a steadfast supporter of the Port of Gloucester throughout his tenure.
During today's program I was able to thank my friend, Chief Warrant Officer Jim Bridges, for his leadership and service as he concludes his tour of duty at Station Gloucester, and welcome new Commanding Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer Matthew Waitukaitis to our community.
We are fortunate to have Station Gloucester in our region, and to have the benefit of such strong and capable leaders at its helm.
