I was pleased to attend the Massachusetts Center for the Book’s 'Letters About Literature' awards ceremony at the State House, recognizing outstanding student writers from across the Commonwealth.

Congratulations to two students from the First Essex and Middlesex District who were honored this year:

📚 Iona Naomi Fishburn of Gloucester, recognized for her third-place letter about "Out of My Mind" (Level II)

📚 Cassi Sullivan of Hamilton, recognized for her third-place letter about "Positive"(Level III)

It was a pleasure to join their families and celebrate their achievement, along with all of this year’s awardees. Programs like 'Letters About Literature' encourage students to think critically, write thoughtfully, and engage deeply with the books that shape them.

Congratulations to all the students recognized, and thank you to the Massachusetts Center for the Book for supporting literacy and student achievement across the Commonwealth!
