Women Veterans Recognition Day

 

Today, on Women Veterans Recognition Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the women who have worn the uniform of our nation. 

This important day marks the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the United States military — a historic step forward in the fight for equality and recognition.

Since that time, women have continued to break barriers and serve with distinction in every branch of our armed forces. Their leadership and dedication inspire future generations and strengthen our nation.

To all women veterans — thank you for your service and for all you continue to do for our communities and our country.
