137th Annual Gloucester Firefighters Relief Association Memorial Service

Yesterday, I had the solemn honor of joining more than 100 community members—including active-duty and retired Gloucester firefighters, their families, city officials, and residents—at the 137th Annual Gloucester Firefighters Relief Association Memorial Service at Cherry Hill Cemetery.

Considered the longest-running ceremony in Gloucester’s history, this meaningful event honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and recognizes the strength, bravery, and commitment of those who continue to serve.

The names of those lost were recalled with dignity and reverence, including Gloucester’s own Firefighter Sander Schultz and Rockport Fire Captain Andrew Porter, whose lives and service left an indelible mark on our region and our hearts.

Thank you to the Gloucester Fire Department, the Relief Association, local city officials and all who helped make this tribute a reality. We are forever in debt to the men and women who protect our communities and to those who gave their lives in that noble pursuit.
