Celebrating 300 Years of Congregation

On Sunday, June 8th, I had the pleasure of joining the congregation of the First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist in Newburyport to celebrate a remarkable milestone—their 300th anniversary.

Following the morning service, I was honored to present an official Senate proclamation recognizing three centuries of spiritual reflection, service, and community building. It was a privilege to join parishioners for their 300th anniversary celebration, complete with the ringing of the Society’s historic bell—a lasting symbol of the congregation’s deep roots within the community and enduring presence.

The First Religious Society continues to make a meaningful difference across generations by connecting people to spirituality, joy, and wonder through diverse worship and music; fostering intergenerational community; living and teaching Unitarian Universalist values; creating belonging for all; supporting one another through life’s transitions; and advancing justice with courageous love.

Congratulations to the FRS UU on 300 years of faith, purpose, and unwavering commitment to both heritage and hope for the future!
