Workers' Memorial Day: The Strife for a Safer Workplace
It was an honor to attend the Workers’ Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the AFL-CIO and MassCOSH featuring keynote speaker Attorney General Andrea Campbell on the front steps of the State House today in Boston.
This solemn event, held in partnership with United Support and Memorial for Workplace Fatalities (USMWF), allowed us to remember the lives of those lost due to workplace tragedies and to stand with their families in solidarity.
Forty-eight Massachusetts workers tragically died on the job in 2024. It was incredibly moving to hear their names read aloud in memoriam.
Our constituent, Rena Harrington of Topsfield, USMWF President, also addressed the crowd by bravely sharing the story of her son Justin and speaking on behalf of families who have lost loved ones from traumatic workplace injuries.
Together, we honor the memory of the fallen and recommit to building safer, healthier workplaces for all.
