I had a wonderful time at this year’s Salisbury Days and was honored to once again take part in the festival’s many events celebrating this beautiful seaside town — and the people who make it truly special.
At this year’s Opening Ceremony, I had the privilege of presenting official Senate citations in recognition of three outstanding community members whose service, generosity, and commitment have made a lasting impact on Salisbury:
▶ Lifetime Achievement Award – Ray Champagne
Recognizing more than four decades of dedication to Salisbury, from his work with the Salisbury Beach Betterment Association to his efforts to preserve our town’s history and honor our veterans.
▶ Here & Now Award – Michael Roberge
Recognizing more than 30 years of volunteerism, including coaching generations of Salisbury youth, caring for our athletic fields, supporting local organizations, and honoring our veterans.
▶ Youth Award – Shawn Queenan
Recognizing his kindness, generosity, leadership, and commitment to making others feel included through his work with Voices of the Vikings and throughout the Salisbury community.
Each of these honorees represents the spirit that makes Salisbury such a special place to live and be. Their dedication, willingness to lend a hand, and commitment to their neighbors are an inspiration to our entire community.
Congratulations to Ray, Mike, and Shawn, and thank you for all that you do to make Salisbury shine!
A heartfelt thank you to the Salisbury Days Committee, town officials, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this year’s celebration such a success. It is always a pleasure to join you in celebrating this wonderful community.
