'City Council posthumously awards Lily Jean captain three Mariners Medals'

"The City Council unanimously voted to award the late Capt. Accursio “Gus” Sanfilippo of Gloucester three Mariners Medals for separate acts of heroism on the high seas.
Nominating Sanfilippo for the Mariners Medal Committee’s consideration was Ted Costa and state Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester."
“I’ll just take a moment to say thank you to the council for your vote tonight to recognize with the awarding the three Mariners Medals the extraordinary heroism and courage of Capt. Gus Sanfilippo,” Tarr said.
There will be a special City Council meeting in the future to present Sanfilippo’s family with the medals."
