📢 $42 Million in Disaster Recovery Funding Available for Massachusetts Farmers 📢
More than $42 million in disaster assistance is now available to Massachusetts agricultural producers who experienced weather-related losses in 2023 and 2024.
The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) has opened applications for the Natural Disaster Recovery II (NDR II) Program, designed to help farms rebuild, recover, strengthen resilience, and continue production following devastating flooding, late-season freezes, and other severe weather events.
Eligible losses may include:
• Crop losses
• Future economic losses
• Timber losses
• Infrastructure losses
• Bare-ground practices necessary to mitigate land loss
Generally, qualifying losses totaling more than $2,500 may be eligible. Farmers and agricultural producers should review the full program requirements and documentation guidelines carefully.
Important deadlines:
📅 August 28, 2026: Deadline to submit questions to MDAR
📅 September 11, 2026: MDAR anticipates posting its consolidated Q&A
📅 September 30, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.: Application deadline
This funding was made possible through a $220 million New England agricultural disaster block grant program enacted by Congress in December 2024.
Massachusetts has now secured its $42 million share of that funding.
