It was a pleasure to join the Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee and the Maritime Gloucester Board of Directors at the Welcome Reception opening the 42nd Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival as more than 20 schooners took to the water for racing across three classes for the Esperanto and Cameron Cups and the Ramsey Award.
Congratulations to our Gloucester-based schooners — the Lannon, Adventure, Ardelle, Isabella, Strombus, Lewis Story, Green Dragon, and Bald Eagle — for another great showing on the water.
This year’s festival was especially meaningful as we celebrate Maritime Gloucester's 100th anniversary and a century of helping preserve, promote, and share Gloucester’s proud maritime heritage.
Thank you to Maritime Gloucester, the Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee, the captains and crews, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make another memorable weekend on the waterfront.
Events like the Schooner Festival are a wonderful reminder of the traditions, history, and working waterfront that make Gloucester so special.
