On September 19, I joined Sheriff Kevin Coppinger and the Essex County Sheriff's Department Department in Middleton for their annual POW /MIA Recognition Ceremony.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to honor the Massachusetts servicemen who remain unaccounted for and to reflect on the tremendous sacrifices made by those who served our country.
The reading of each name, the ringing of the bell, and the presentation of the Missing Man Table served as powerful reminders that their service and sacrifice must never be forgotten.
The Sheriff’s facility is home to the Commonwealth’s only monument honoring every Bay State POW/MIA.
We remember their courage, honor their service, and continue to hold their families in our thoughts.
They are not forgotten.
