25th Anniversary Rededication of the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial
It was an honor to join the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association in commemorating the 25th anniversary of the rededication of the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial.
This enduring memorial is a powerful tribute to the strength, courage, sacrifice, and resilience of Gloucester’s fishing families, and to the wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, children, and loved ones who have carried this community through generations.
It was especially meaningful to honor the crew of the F/V Lily Jean and their families, along with the late Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante, with commemorative stones at the memorial.
I am grateful to the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association for preserving this important part of our community’s history and ensuring that these stories and sacrifices are never forgotten.
May this memorial continue to remind us of where we come from, who we are, and the enduring strength of Gloucester’s fishing families. ⚓
