S. 2676 and H. 3388 Signed Into Law
As Veterans Day approaches, we are
reminded that honoring our veterans means more than words — it means action.
Earlier today, the Massachusetts Senate
advanced that commitment by passing comprehensive package legislation to
strengthen support, inclusion, and opportunity for our military members,
veterans, and their families.
🔹 S.2675 Clarifies the authority
of the Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard as the Commander of
the military forces of the Commonwealth.
🔹 S.2676 establishes important
protections and supports for military-connected families.
🔹 H.3388 requires the Governor
to proclaim September 22 as Military Service Members and Veterans Suicide
Awareness and Remembrance Day, honoring fallen heroes, raising awareness, and
encouraging prevention.
I’m especially proud that the Senate
also adopted an amendment filed by members of the Senate Republican Caucus to
require the Massachusetts National Guard, in consultation with the Executive
Office of Veterans Services, to track and publicly report data on suicides
among Guard veterans.
By improving transparency,
accountability, and access to care, we take meaningful steps toward preventing
tragedy and ensuring that every veteran receives the support they have earned
through their service.
