On Monday, May 11th, 2026, Governor Maura Healey and I sent the following letter to Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao requesting the U.S. Navy's assistance with the investigation of the F/V Lily Jean.
We are requesting the Navy retrieve a piece of equipment on board that could provide critical information into what caused the ship to sink.
We have also requested that the Navy assess the feasibility of recovering the remains of lost crew members, in keeping with the wishes of each family.
