What began as a middle school civics project evolved into years of research, collaboration, and advocacy. Mariah and Sofia took the time to understand complex energy policy issues and developed legislative proposals focused on expanding renewable energy opportunities and advancing battery storage research.
I have been grateful for the opportunity to work with Mariah and Sofia and help bring their ideas into the legislative process. On their behalf, I filed:
• S.2090, An Act relative to commercial renewable investments
• S.2325, An Act relative to grid battery storage innovation study
Their story is a powerful reminder that civic engagement is not limited by age. When students are given the opportunity to participate in the legislative process, they can bring thoughtful ideas and meaningful solutions to the table.
Thank you to Mariah and Sofia for their dedication and for showing what can happen when classroom learning becomes real-world civic engagement.
