I recently had the opportunity to walk through Maudslay State Park located in Newburyport with Friends of Maudslay President Marlys Edwards to discuss the history of the property and the importance of preserving some of its historic structures.
Maudslay State Park features 19th century gardens and plantings, rolling meadows, towering pines, and one of the largest naturally-occurring stands of mountain laurel in Massachusetts.
Our conversation also included ways to partner with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) as we look towards opportunities to preserve these structures for the future.
Thank you to Marlys and the Friends of Maudslay for their continued advocacy and stewardship of this special place. I look forward to continuing the conversation and working with DCR and local partners to explore ways to preserve Maudslay’s history for generations to come.
