Bringing Transparency to Transit: My MBTA Reporting Amendment

On Thursday, May 8th, during the Senate’s formal session I shared remarks regarding my amendment offered to S.2512, the Senate’s version of a FY’25 Supplemental Budget.
I listened to many of my colleagues speak to items to spend money in this budget, with substantial additional funds appropriated for the MBTA.
My proposed amendment #3 would require the MBTA to inventory all of its assets, identify their state of repair, and develop a plan to achieve a systemwide state of good repair. It would also require the MBTA to identify measures to save costs, and minimize the amount of taxpayer subsidies, which are growing.
