Today, on the 37th observance of Workers’ Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives while simply going to work.
In Massachusetts, 48 workers tragically died on the job in 2024—each one a life cut short, a family forever changed, and a reminder of the responsibility we all share to ensure safe working conditions.
We remember Justin Harrington, and all those whose lives were lost to workplace tragedies. We stand with their families, including advocates like Justin's mother, Rena Harrington of Topsfield, whose strength continues to turn unimaginable loss into meaningful action through her work with the USMWF United Support and Memorial for Workplace Fatalities.
As they so powerfully remind us, “the greatest casualty is to be forgotten.”
Today, we make sure that does not happen.
We honor their memory by recommitting ourselves to safer, healthier workplaces across our Commonwealth. Going to work should never be a grave mistake.
