'State, local agencies begin collecting unused and unwanted lobster gear to keep waters clean'

"Along with the ghost gear, many lobstermen have old and no longer useful equipment that they have no place to get rid of.
“In Gloucester people take action and do things to protect the right whales, do things to protect our marine environment and do it all while recognizing our responsibility for stewardship because of the role the ocean plays in our lives,” Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester said."
