Honoring D-Day 2024
Today, as we mark the 80th Anniversary of the invasion of
the beaches of Normandy by American and Allied Forces to begin the liberation
of France and Europe from the oppression of Nazi and fascist regimes, I had the
honor of presenting a resolution to commemorate this historic effort, and to
remember the sacrifice of so many who fought for freedom on that day, for
consideration by the Senate.
The resolution was unanimously adopted, and I am grateful to
my colleagues for supporting this important recognition of the historic events
of "D- Day," and the brave members of our armed services who gave so
much on that day.
