Newburyport Black History
Last month, the City of Newburyport continued its commitment
to honoring their city’s black history in an incredibly moving ceremony at the
Old Hill Burying Ground.
Headstones marked ‘Once Known’ were placed on the unmarked
graves of 18 people buried in a section of the Old Hill Burying Ground, known
as the African-American burying ground.
