Commemoration of Sergeant Edward M. Couture

Yesterday was a remarkable and emotional day for the Middleton Community as we gathered for the unveiling of a placard placed above the newly named Couture Way to commemorate the life and service of Sergeant Edward M. Couture to the Town of Middleton Police Dept.

Sergeant Couture perished in a tragic accident while on duty at a roadway construction site in 1997. In the wake of that horrific loss his widow Ann and daughters Ashlyn and Brianna showed grace, courage and strength that were, and continue to be, inspirational.

I was honored to participate in the unveiling ceremony. Thanks to the Middleton Police Benevolent Association MCOP Local 392, the Middleton Police Department, and the town officials who made the placard, and the ceremony possible.

And thanks to everyone who came out to show well-deserved respect for a dedicated police officer who gave his life defending our public safety.
