NECC Meeting
We had a very productive meeting of the Northeast Coastal
Coalition (NECC) discussing several significant items for the coastal region
from Cape Ann to the New Hampshire Border, including:
- A presentation by
officials from Babson College and the Woods Hole Group on the opportunity to
secure up to $15 million for the region to develop and deploy innovative
technology to combat erosion
- An update on legislation to remove abandoned
fishing gear from Massachusetts Waters
- Status Reports on dredging projects in
Ipswich and Essex
- Updates on pending funding for regional
priorities in the Fiscal Year 2025 state budget
- An update on activities at the University of Massachusetts
Marine Station relative to coastal resilience and sustainability
