Breaking Ground For The Middleton Rail Trail

In September, I was happy to announce, with House Minority Leader State Representative Brad Jones, that #Middleton would receive $165,000 to convert a ¾ mile section of a rail bed to a multiuse trail, which will connect residents to a local school as well as increase space for people to be outside. Today, we participated in a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the Middleton Rail Trail construction project at the Essex Street/Rail Trail crossing.

This is an important grant for the Town of Middleton because it provides significant resources for the trail project, and also because it reflects the type of partnership between town officials and the Baker - Polito Administration that brings energy and focus to local projects that strengthen the town. I am pleased that the Middleton legislative delegation's support for the Shared Streets and Spaces Grant Program has translated into a grant of this magnitude.

Thanks to all involved for developing this project, and providing the leadership and funding to get this Shared Streets & Spaces project rolling.
