MA Homestead Act Program to Protect Homeowners
This week, our office partnered with the Property Fraud Watch Program, the Eastern Essex District Department of Veterans Services, and the Rowley Council on Aging for a presentation of an excellent free program offered by Massachusetts to help protect homeowners from fraud.
We discussed the powerful protections available through the MA Homestead Act, which shields your principal residence from creditors and certain legal claims.
Every homeowner automatically gets $125,000 in protection, but by filing a simple Declaration of Homestead, you can protect up to $1,000,000 in home equity! This is especially important for our veterans and their families who've worked hard to achieve homeownership.
