“MIT is looking to initiate conversations with communities
to bring their artificial reef concept from beta to installation, but they
haven’t selected a community yet, or given a timeline for that process,” Tarr,
R-Gloucester, said on Thursday. “We will be meeting with them in two weeks to
discuss if their model will work for the Salisbury coast.”
“We have also been working with Babson College, Woods Hole
and SeaAhead’s grant proposal that will accomplish NOAA’s mission to accelerate
pathways to commercialization for coastal and ocean-based resilience solutions
that can help communities prepare for, adapt to, and build resilience to
climate challenges,” Tarr said, referring to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration.
