Annual Gloucester Fishermen's Memorial Service
This past Saturday, the Gloucester community came together
for the annual Fishermen’s Memorial Service paying homage to and in remembrance
of those who never returned from their final voyage.
I am grateful for the efforts of the Fishermen’s Memorial
Service Committee whose tireless efforts ensure our city continues this
tradition.
“It’s critically important that we remember all of the folks
that have left our port never to return, who have made such sacrifice for their
families and the community and to feed this country. That is a sacrifice that
we all need to remember and to honor. In many ways, one of the things that
makes Gloucester such a strong community is that we support each other, and
while we are not related to all the people we’ve lost, in a real sense, they
are part of our extended family.”
