The Open Door Mobile Market Food Truck Dedication
The ribbon-cutting ceremony of The Open Door's new Mobile Market Farmer's Truck was a great success. Secured with state Food Security Infrastructure Grant funds, this vehicle will be used to bring nutritious and fresh produce, free of charge, to qualifying individuals. I presented President and CEO Julie LaFontaine with a Citation from the Massachusetts State Senate to recognize their mission with the Mobile Market Farmers Truck. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it challenging to make sure food is getting to the people who need it..
The Mobile Market Farmer's Truck will travel to locations including underserved neighborhoods, senior centers and Councils on Aging, schools, North Shore Community College, and homeless shelters. After the ribbon-cutting, which was held at Cape Ann Veterans Services, local veterans had a chance to choose fresh produce and eggs at the very first Mobile Market featuring the Farmers Truck.
The Open Door is a decades-old non-profit organization that serves people in Cape Ann.
With The Open Door Board of Directors and team, Cape Ann Veterans Services' Adam Curcuru, Mayor-Elect Greg Verga, the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, #Gloucester Public Schools, Mobile Market Partners including Councils on Aging and Senior Centers.
