WENHAM – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will be implementing overnight lane closures on a portion of the Route 1A northbound and southbound between the town lines of Beverly and Hamilton. The lane closures will take place nightly on Sunday, September 12, Monday, September 13, and Tuesday, September 14, during overnight hours from 7:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. The closures will conclude by 5:00 AM on Wednesday, September 15, and are needed to allow crews to safely and effectively conduct maintenance and resurfacing operations. The work will consist of pavement resurfacing and marking operations and utility structure adjustments. These operations are part of a larger ongoing project along this corridor which is being conducted on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 

The estimate value of the work is approximately $350,000. 

The anticipated completion date for the overall project is September 24, 2021. The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution. Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Detour routes will be appropriately signed during any ramp closures.
