Lara Lepionka of Backyard Growers is a Kale Blazer
Congratulations to Lara Lepionka of Backyard Growers Program in #Gloucester for being honored at the State House today with this year’s Kale Blazer Award. Massachusetts Farm to School, a non-profit organization, has selected Lara for her outstanding work providing resources and support to grow vegetable gardens at public schools, homes, housing communities and beyond.
Backyard Growers is helping to raise a generation of healthy eaters who understand where their food comes from and how to prepare it. Growing nutritious, high-quality food is good for kids, families and our communities and I am delighted with the work Lara and Backyard Growers is doing.
Massachusetts Farm to School is dedicated to strengthening local farms and fisheries and promoting healthy communities by increasing local food purchasing and education at schools.
