Celebrating Newburyport Firefighters

"Today is a great day to celebrate and to elevate the legacy of the fire service here in the City of Newburyport" -State Senator Bruce Tarr

Recently, I had the honor of sharing remarks at the new John F. Cutter Jr.  Fire Station Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony located in the City of Newburyport's West End Neighborhood.

Thank you to everyone involved in getting this project over the finish line!

The building is named for the late John F. Cutter Jr., aa career member of the Newburyport Fire Department who retired as assistant chief, with a legacy of four generations of family members serving as firefighters in Newburyport.

The ceremony also included the swearing in of firefighters Ryan Aghoian and Matt Thurlow, as well as, the promotion of call firefighter John Cutter Jr. to Call Lieutenant.

The firefighter Tony Raven Memorial was also rededicated in honor of the 30+ years department veteran who passed away in April 2016, after battling a fire.
