Advisory: Gloucester Temporary Navigable Channel Impacts at Blynman Drawbridge "Cut Bridge"

Drawbridge closed for use by some large vessels from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28

GLOUCESTER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing repair operations to the Blynman Drawbridge in Gloucester, which will require a closure of the drawbridge to some marine traffic during overnight hours on Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28. The repairs will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. each night, with repairs expected to conclude by morning hours on Thursday, June 29. The navigable channel will remain open only to marine vessels that can safely pass under the bridge while the bridge is in the closed position. Harbormaster patrol boats will be on site to guide marine traffic through the area.

The drawbridge will remain open to roadway traffic during this time. All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. This work is part of an ongoing $2.6 million district-wide drawbridge operations and repair contract.
