Traveling Acts Bill
The passage of this bill continues our state's leadership on
animal welfare issues, and will protect these elephants, big cats, giraffes and
others from the hardships and adversity involved in traveling from place to
place for shows. Importantly, the bill
preserves the opportunity for meaningful human interaction at facilities
designed for that purpose on a permanent basis.
Thanks to the many stakeholders and legislators who have
collaborated on the long legislative journey this bill has traveled to become
law.

Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Parade
Once again, the Yankee Homecoming Parade provided a great
opportunity to show the spirit of the Greater City of Newburyport Community,
and bring to a close a week of wonderful events that were part of this annual
tradition. I was honored to join with my colleagues in government to march in
the parade and celebrate Yankee Homecoming with the huge crowd that came out on
Sunday (8/4) afternoon.

Hamilton Military Service Day
Recently attended the 9th annual Military Service Day at the
Patton Homestead in the Town of Hamilton.
The Patton Homestead in Hamilton, MA has been the past
family home for over 90 years of General George S. Patton, WWII, his son
General George Smith Patton IV, Korea, Vietnam, Black Horse Air Cavalry, and
his wife Joanne Holbrook Patton, a pioneer Army Social Services innovator
during the Vietnam War. She encouraged communities everywhere for decades to
embrace military families.
Military Service Day is dedicated to the memory of Joanne
Holbrook Patton who passed on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 92. Ms.
Patton is additionally remembered for her advocacy for causes including
cognitive and intellectual disabilities advancement for adults (CAST program),
the arts, and theater, and environmental education across America. Her life
epitomizes a life of patriotism and philanthropy.
Thank you to the AP Gardner American Legion Post, the Wenham
Museum, the Massachusetts State Police, the Patton family and many others for
putting on this great event to honor our veterans.
