They say the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago and the next best time is now. I was delighted to help the Interact Club of the North Andover High School with their efforts to distribute hundred of tree saplings this past week. The club's goal was to offset the vast majority of the school's consumption of paper with the growth of new trees. The group selected native species of Red Maple, Eastern Redbud, and Birch sold 342 trees - they sold hundreds of them and donated, even more, to be planted at public places including parks, schools, and Harold Parker State Forest.
