Get Out and Vote
Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country. -Franklin D. Roosevelt
With the polls opening today at 7:00am, Americans will cast their vote for president. This marks the 57th time, that as a nation, we have elected a leader of our great country through democracy.
Here in Massachusetts there are several important officials to be chosen, including President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, State Senator, State Representative, and Executive Council. We will also be voting on three statewide ballot questions. Question 1, aka the Right to Repair question, asks voters whether owners of vehicles should have access to repair manuals and diagnostic information for their vehicles. Question 2 asks voters whether a terminally ill patient may receive a prescribed medication from a doctor to end that patient’s life. Question 3 is regarding the legalization of medical marijuana.
It is expected that high volumes of people will be exercising their right to vote tomorrow, so it is important to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do so before 8:00pm when the polls close.
